Abhay is watching 'The Good , The Bad and the Ugly' and no matter how hard I am trying not to watch it , it is so distracting. Especially the music. It has to be my ringtone right away. Anyway, I am very good at mustitasking and that's why I decided to write a blog entry while I am watching the movie parallely. Do let me know how did I fare ;)

Hmmm , so moving on! Ya,I wanted to talk about Thai Cuisine. No, I haven't changed my profession .... Yet! ;)  I had no plans to cook today (As usual!) and we decided to hit the thai restaurant called Thai Gallery on the Friar St at Worcester. Its a beautiful location and I just love strolling on that street.
Btw, the house you see in the photograph above is the restaurant. Isn't it so classy? Old Style British house which is no less beautiful from the inside.

But that's not what I wanted to talk about!! :D I think this is the place I tasted the authentic thai curries for the first time and I have been its admirer since then. And this forces me to wonder how many variety of cuisines does the world have! We all know the fruits , the vegetables , the spices and the cereals etc that exist in this world and how differently we combine them and create so many different cuisines out of it. Just like chemistry! It fascinates me. (In the movie :Yes , he found the cemetary :D)

Another cuisine that I am absolute fan of : Lebanese. I love the light flavours it has and the fact it has simple spices in it.

And how can I not talk about Italian food. But before I do, I need to tell you the categories of it in 'The Good , The Bad and the Ugly' movie style ;)

'there are two kinds of Italian food in this world. One that you get in Italy and the other that you get outside of Italy'

After trying the second category , Abhay was in loathe to try pizza again in his life. And then we reached Rome. We sat for lunch in a restaurant on a beautiful afternoon when the waiter arrived to take the orders and I ordered for a Parmesan cheese tomato pizza and you should have seen the look on Abhay's face. He was so furious. He had tasted this before in the UK and it was a great failure and he didn't want me to repeat the mistake again. But as they say : si fueris Rōmae, Rōmānō vīvitō mōre; si fueris alibī, vīvitō sicut ibi (“If you were in Rome, live in the Roman way; if you are elsewhere, live as they do there) , I had to try this. So! Finally my pizza arrived and all it took was just one bite to change Abhay's idea about Italian food. He probably ate 3/4th of the pizza all by himself :D (The movie got over!! What a classic.)

The pizza I was talking about :)

Ok! Back to where were we. It is a quintessential fact though that every famous civilization has brought uniqueness in the way they live and it significantly reflects in their food and cuisines. Take India for an example. Indian food greatly reflects the diversity that prevails in our society. How many variety of food do we have? No! I don't even want to get started with that.

Sigh!! I want make a wish here : I want to study world cultures, different countries, their living styles , their food , their festivals. Amen! I think it would be perfect if someone hires me for a travel show ;) With this wish , I am signing off !

Btw, this is what we had for dinner today :)

Left : Gai Pad Prik Kiew Wan
Stir-fried chicken breast fillet with green curry paste, green beans, baby corn, mange tout and red peppers.
Right : Khoong Pad Ped
Stir-fried king prawns with cashew nuts, mushrooms, red and green peppers.
Thai Sticky Rice.
Gotta hunt for that bowl!

Ciao
